"Unseen: Draw You Ghost / Skull Portraits" 2 1/2 hour performance drawing at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (ybca), San Francisco

This piece addresses intimacy, spirituality, and appropriate social interaction.

I am curious about the relationship of science and the imagination; and more specifically about how the imagination is requisite for the formulation of hypotheses; necessary for discovery; and also leads to pseudosciences, such as phrenology: the irrational and the rational feeding and nullifying each other.

“Draw Your Ghost”
(Irrational Idea)
Does energy transmit from Participant through Performant? Can something of the essence of the Participant be captured via automatic drawing?

“Skull Portraits”
(Rational Idea)
What does the skull feel like? How can this be described through the sense of touch? How does one visually describe what can not be seen? How does the brain create descriptions of space that are nonvisual?
