Honey Jernquist is a visual and performance artist working in a variety of no, old, and low tech media. His work addresses issues of personal, public and private space and their intersections; personal devotion, material obsession, and the ephemeral. He lives and works in San Francisco and Oakland. Most people know him as Honey McMoney.
b. 1970
Oberlin College BA 1991
I grew up in upstate NY and in NJ. I won a painting prize on a playground in 1976. I lived in San Francisco from 1991 until 2011. Twenty years later I moved to Oakland. San Francisco has out priced itself and is infested with bedbugs. I've been a clothing designer, both independent and corporate, and I'm very much trying to reform my ways, sometimes. Between 2003 and 2005 I did about 1500 hours of art modeling. I started painting again in 2004. Basically, I was born and just sort of went from there.
Here's a little anecdote:
I was working at Dockers at the age of 38. The admin for my VP told me that the president's admin asked him about me, "Is he OK?"
