These imaginary landscapes start from a place of abstraction. I've been using objects (see Butterfly Triptych) to "print" on paper - in this case pencil shavings, bits of fishnet and crepe paper, and then finding the pattern, the landscape. Finding pattern in chaos. Very human.
Externalized, social, performative practice is an excellent complement to a solitary, internalized painting practice.
