Volcano / imaginary landscape study, watercolor, ink, beeswax on paper, 8" x 11".
Because watercolor remains vulnerable to water after drying, and I don't care for glass frames, I have been experimenting with waterproofing finishes. This painting I covered with beeswax shavings and popped in the oven. I like the finish, but, since the paper is stretched, the wax caused it to slightly lose it's perfect tautness.
